Mere mortals will have a very hard time killing you, but other FIREGODS; that's another question entirely. FIREGODS have 750% health, which means it'll take more than faith to kill you. Rest assured your opponents will try, nonetheless. This is a patch for Doom2 v1.9, specifically for Deathmatch.

Anonymous	Pretty damn good. Just seeing your fists all the time makes it hard to distinguish between weapons. Actually, impossible.	x
Anonymous	EXTREMELY INTERESTING. Perhaps these weapons can help one beat DOOM or DOOM 2 in Nightmare. AV or HR, I don't know about that. It doesn't matter really, all that matters is this PATCH KICKS ASS AND MUST BE DOWNLOADED AT ALL COSTS!	x

FIREGOD2 - Fire Gods (version 2) - for either DOOM or DOOM II v1.9
YOU ARE GOD!  Strike down mere mortals with a flick of your wrist!

This is an updated (and legalized) version of FIREGODS.ZIP
(dated 27 July 1996).

The original version illegally contained a hacked doom2.exe
and hence only worked with DOOM II.  This version contains an
equivalent DeHackEd patch file which you can use with a Doom Source
port and either DOOM or DOOM II.

Note: FIREGOD2 cannot be used with 'Plain Vanilla' DOOM or DOOM II
because of the extra sprite graphics which were added to the wad to
enable it to run with DOOM I.  To anyone interested, even if you add
ALL the sprites to the pwad FIREGOD2 will not run with 'Plain Vanilla'
DOOM or DOOM II.

The original distribution was 825KB uncompressed (because of the
illegal .exe file), but this version is only 193 KB !

Mods made by Sparky of KISS Software:
- deleted the illegal hacked doom2.exe and created an equivalent
  DeHackEd patch.
- removed the speaker sounds from the wad and removed the wasted space
- added the missing sounds and sprite graphics to FIREGOD2.WAD to
  enable it to be used with DOOM I.
- deleted all the redundant batch files so the distribution contains
  only 3 files now:  firegod2.deh   firegod2.wad   firegod2.txt

Patching is not required because FIREGOD2 MUST be used with a Source
Port such as ZDoom, Boom, PRboom, MBF, Legacy, etc. For example:
  To use FIREGOD2 with the original Doom/Doom2 levels:
    ZDOOM  :    zdoom -deh firegod2 -file firegod2
    BOOM   :    boom -deh firegod2 -file firegod2
    LEGACY :    doom3 -file firegod2.deh firegod2.wad

.. or with your favourite External User Level:
    ZDOOM  :    zdoom -deh firegod2 -file firegod2 MYLEVEL
    BOOM   :    boom -deh firegod2 -file firegod2 MYLEVEL
    LEGACY :    doom3 -file firegod2.deh firegod2.wad MYLEVEL.WAD

Tested okay with:
  ZDoom v1.18b     - From the Main Menu select "Display Options" and
                     set "Blood Type" and "Bullet Puff Type" both to
                     "SPRITES", and set "Rocket Trails" to "OFF"
  PRboom v2.02     - tested fine, no special instructions
  MBF v2.03        -    "     "    "    "         "
  Boom v2.02       -    "     "    "    "         "
  Legacy v1.28     - DOS and Win32 versions - can't disable rocket
                     trails but that's no big deal.
  GLlegacy v1.29b7 - I was hoping to see some impressive lighting
                     using FIREGOD2 but the dynamic lighting still
                     isn't working with this beta version.

   HOW DO I BECOME A FIREGOD?

Unzip FIREGODS.ZIP to your DOOM2 directory, and type GOD-ON.  This
installs FIREGODS to your DOOM2.EXE, and makes a backup copy of your
DOOM2.EXE in the file DOOM2EXE.SAV.  To uninstall, type GOD-OFF.  Just type
DOOM2 or start a Deathmatch just like normal now to play FIREGODS.  In all
of your games, make sure you load the file FIREGODS.WAD by adding:

-FILE FIREGODS.WAD

You can play any level and any WAD with FIREGODS.  Also note, FIREGODS
might have slight difficulty running on slow computers (anything less than
486/33), and might also encounter difficulty in deathmatch if your
modem/network connection is severely disrupted.

   WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A FIREGOD?

Here's a rundown of your powers:
   
   Power 1 (used to be Chainsaw) - GRIP OF SIN
   If you can get close enough to touch your opponent, this power is one of
the most devistating of all.  Will kill almost instantly.

Power 2 (used to be Pistol) - HAND OF FIRE
   Simply lights whatever is directly in front of you on fire.

Power 3a (used to be Shotgun) - OPEN ARMS
   No, it's not a hug, its an enhanced form of HAND OF FIRE which will
spread the fire out over a larger area.

Power 3b (used to be Super Shotgun) - BANISHMENT
   Will bathe a vast region in utterly devistating Hellfire.  One of your
greatest powers, BANISHMENT will also use up your Mana very quickly; use it
wisely.

Power 4 (used to be Chaingun) - HAND OF HELL
   An even better form of HAND OF FIRE, this power will burn through even
godly flesh in a matter of seconds.

Power 5 (used to be Rocket Launcher) - DYNOMATIC PROJECTION 
   A single punch, and whatever's directly in front of you will 
spontaneously combust.  Using this power at point-blank range can be very
deadly (to you!).

Power 6 (used to be Plasma Gun) - FIRE LIGHTNING
   Fast and devistating.  This power is to be feared.

Power 7 (used to be BFG) - CATACLYSM
   This weapon comes in two forms; the first is a fireball which will
completely consume its target in fire, killing instantly... no matter what.
Sometimes this awesomely powerful fireball will open a rift in space,
leaving behind a fatal trail of infernal devistation.
