nathanB404 Posted November 24, 2023 What are things you'd like to see in a doom eternal remake? It's going to happen eventually. Bethesda and Microsoft love money. 0 Share this post Link to post
Jayextee Posted November 24, 2023 We don't need a fucking remake of DOOM Eternal yet. Not for about 20 years. 0 Share this post Link to post
Rudolph Posted November 24, 2023 A Doom 3 remake seems more likely at this point. 1 Share this post Link to post
whatup876 Posted November 24, 2023 The game itself is still too modern but even 7th gen games are getting remakes somehow. Even a D3 remake is questionable because the game could instead use a proper re-release that is essentially "what BFG edition and others should have been". And don't get me started on the classic games... 0 Share this post Link to post

Do you think (in your opinion) that in the next 15 years, doom eternal will still remain a cult classic? Or is it just zoomer normie trash. 0 Share this post Link to post

Rudolph Posted November 25, 2023 3 hours ago, The Doommer said: In order to keep the Doom 3 fans happy it should still be a horror game But fix that godforsaken shotgun and gimme SSG all the time Not necessarily. It is just that with Doom Eternal, Id Software seems to have done everything they could with that style of gameplay. Plus Doom 3 remains a significant milestone of the Doom franchise, so it makes sense to revisit that one. 0 Share this post Link to post
whatup876 Posted November 25, 2023 I still think there's a lot of ideas that can be done with this formula, even if through some expansions instead of a full game. But to revisit D3, it needs a seperate mindset from DE/2016. A way to respect the formula but also improve it, while making it a "seperate branch" from the Slayer games. 0 Share this post Link to post
ApprihensivSoul Posted November 30, 2023 Well, since this thread didn't even pretend to stay focused, I'll suggest one Doom 3 and one DE thought. Doom 3's formula was hampered by it's desire to be cinematic. Larger, more intricate levels and monsters that could explore those levels independently of your progress would be a game changer, as well as keeping all cutscenes in first person. For Doom Eternal: First Person Cutscenes. Mostly just that. Unbroken first person perspective throughout. I'm still hoping to see another Eternal-style game with a larger focus on exploration, with levels structured more in the vein of combat sandboxes than chains of arenas. You could still have the arenas overall, but make them less sequential. 0 Share this post Link to post
whatup876 Posted November 30, 2023 Do it like in MGS3 where you press something to view from Doomguy's POV. I can see someone think about 2016 getting a remake and i'm remembered of how its multiplayer may not have had an off-line mode for bots or something. Basically, making a game "future proof" could be a good idea and a priority. 1 Share this post Link to post
ARMCoder Posted December 2, 2023 I'd like to see some extreme platforming like in the Exultia map, but not limited to it (that is, multi-dash-jump-monkeybar-midair refuel onto temporary surfaces that will fall in no time) relegated to bonus content / secret areas and removed from the mandatory path. Platforming is not bad in itself, but some design decisions seem (IMO) over the top and end up breaking the pace of the level progression. Too much time wasted in such sections, they are *really* hard to master and don't get any easier by selecting the EASY difficulty. My 2 cents. 0 Share this post Link to post

Knock out two birds with one stone: A remaster with the option of playing the 2016 campaign using Eternal’s improvements. 0 Share this post Link to post
whatup876 Posted December 3, 2023 I think what an Eternal re-release needs is to not only be "future proof" (offline bot stuff) but also maintain/carry most of its content like skins and all. Because Eternal being a modern game, means it's never "complete". Maybe even add in unreleased stuff like some Master Levels even if too good to be true. There's probably stuff that even if minor can't really be added again but at least i like the option to switch between main menu themes. As for expansions, i'd love to see stuff like new playable characters with their own guns, mobility abilities, power ups, enemies, level hazards, puzzles etc just to explore the formula more. Specially if they're like how Wolf the Old Blood felt more like a "small game" than an "expansion". 0 Share this post Link to post

Doom Eternal, is the Need For Speed: Most Wanted (2005) of doom games. Everyone adores it and D rides it till the ends of time. I can definitely see a HUGE demand for a remake of it in the next 15 years. Whether 2039 ID can pull it off right, remains to be seen. 0 Share this post Link to post
Herr Dethnout Posted December 25, 2023 The Last of Us and Sony damaged the industry so badly that people really thinks a game needs remake/remaster in a few years or otherwise is unplayable... 3 Share this post Link to post
Super Mighty G Posted December 25, 2023 I for one think they should remake the next Doom game before it comes out. 0 Share this post Link to post
