Which artists would you have wanted to see live?
Garlichead replied to P_A_Z's topic in Everything Else
It’s impossible to see them now: Zappa, Genesis with Peter Gabriel, Queen, Allman Brothers Band with Duane, Grateful Dead with Jerry, Chrome, Joy Division. It’s still possible to see them now: Swans, Trueno, Sonic Youth, Ministry, Foetus, Jarboe, Diamanda Galas, Happy Mondays (not sure if they are still touring), Hawkwind -
Besides the Space Ritual and Warrior on the Edge of time (came to post those), i find the following ones quite iconic.

People or media that introduced you to some good music.

Indeed, I discovered lots of music while playing the Tony Hawk, and the Street Skater games during my early teens. I think most of my musical tastes developed during my college years, back then a lot of my friends where into discovering music through blogs and apps such as Soul Seek and torrents. I got into proggresive rock and electronic music during that time. While i dont listen to prog rock very often, I think it had an effect on my taste in music; or at least in getting me exposed to eclectic stuff that you wouldnt normally listen on mainstream local radio back in the late 90s, early 2000s. Nowadays, most of my music discovery takes place through the radio. Some of these shows may be a little too local for the international community of Doomworld, so i will mention those that have higher internet presence or have podcasts available. 1. https://amplifyradio.com/programa-registros/: It is 50% world music, 50% other music genres (a little bit of everything). I like it as they explain the context in which genres emerged and their influence on other artists. 2. Songmess: latin american radio show focused on contemporary music from the region. Nice interviews. 3. https://www.ivoox.com/podcast-latido-america_sq_f150658_1.html: radio show focused on key figures from the latin american scene. Good mix between classics, and modern stuff. There are some international radio stations i like as well: 1. https://somafm.com/: lots of diferent stations on their catalogue. While they mostly focus on electronic music, they also have some folk, jazz and pop channels. My favorite being probably Secret Agent, a mix of jazz, exotica and afrobeat. 2. https://www.kexp.org/: public station from Seattle. They have several shows and podcast, i specially like their Live on KEXP series. 3. https://www.nts.live/: a couple of different streams to chose from. I mostly like it for their collection of world music, but they have a huge variety of shows. Normally listen to it when i am not in the mood for anything in particular; while i dont always enjoy the selection i have found lots of cool music i wouldnt have found in other ways.
