Just got around to Eternal. I'm hoping id goes back to Doom and makes it a little more pure. Blood punch, ice grenade, frag grenade, flame belch, fast switching, double jumping, double dashing, glory killing... Few too many bells and whistles for my tastes. I like a more old fashioned Doom.

Not sure if there'll be an explosion. People who are still into this game have been for quite some time, I really doubt the community grows by leaps and bounds year over year. It'll be one of those "oh wow, can you believe they made this and they still play this game?" type of thing. And then people will go back to what they're actually interested in. If it was Doom, they had a few decades to get into it. With any luck, it'll help keep a few people with a passing interest around.

I'm struggling to finish FEAR 2 again. I don't know why, I'm not even enjoying it. The AI and slowmo is pretty cool but it got tiresome a long time ago. After that I'm gonna go after the final achievement I'm missing in Blood and then likely a very, very long Vampires or Empire campaign in Warhammer 2.

I'd say 3. The game came out when I was a kid and I played it a fair bit and I got back into it in my teens as I was playing all kinds of retro games. I prefer older art styles and I think sprites are a lot better than today's ultra realistic graphics. But I have to admit, I have no idea how I played original Doom without going blind. The resolution actually hurts my eyes these days and I can't play with anything but GZDoom. I don't jump and I'm gonna do another playthrough without mouse look. Also, I tend to prefer the older style of maps over the whacky stuff that's coming out today. As cool as that jumping map that just won an award is, I'm not interested.

Slaughter maps. I solved the problem with IDDQD. Because I hate tedious garbage.

Yes definitely. I reincarnated an old laptop by putting OSFlex on it and I liked it so much I'll soon be picking up a Chromebook for writing on the go. Doom is the only game I want to have installed on it.

I've never enjoyed watching other people play video games. It's an interactive medium and I can't really have much fun when I'm missing out on the interaction.

Getting monsters to infight and the crisp reload sound of the super shotgun.

I realize its an old post but still - this isn't true at all. My cat's been my companion and best friend for 15 years. Never met a more affectionate animal. Knows my moods, always trying to cheer me up if I'm down. I wouldn't trade him for anything.
