    A 32 level megawad for doom2. This megawad doesn't have perfect texture alignment, insane detail and fantasticly hard gameplay. Instead it focuses on small fun maps to blast through without much thought about defense. The difficulty rises steadily as you go through the maps and the last few should challenge even the best.

    Well, maybe it's wrong to call this a demo, it's more like a HD-cleaning. It was close that these 2 levels were lost in my last reformat, I remembered to upload them the very last minute. Since it's not likely that I will work on this megawad- project anytime soon I might just as well release these levels standalone. The difficulty is balanced so that skill 4 is not playable or fun in any way, so don't bother trying it unless you are a masochist.

    This is the sequel to my old megawad "Scythe". Expect better looking and bigger levels. unfortunately, the last 3 levels are missing, because I am so lazy and I haven't been satisfied with my attempts at making map28. I _might_ release the last 3 maps some time in the future, but do not count on it. (Update: the last 3 maps are now completed!)

Map07 heavily influenced Scythe maps29-30) Chord 3 (Best close-quarters gameplay, influenced a lot of my maps, for example Scythe2 map26) Eternal doom (Some of the most impressive maps ever for vanilla doom2 though gameplay is horrible at times)

Description: Scythe X is a detailed 10-map wad made for fun and fast-paced play. It can be played with any limit-removing port. Updates will come eventually in the form of additional 5-map episodes, no changes will be made to the existing maps. The maps are aimed to be kind of simplistic in terms of layout and floor architecture and detail. They focus more on clever routes and high detail on walls and ceilings. This is done in order to make the gameplay intuitive and enjoyable rather than time-consuming and tedious.

  11. Those of you who reads the blogs forum may already know some of this but anyway... My next project will be titled "Scythe X". It will feature: - Limit-removing port compability. - 5 map theme episodes like Scythe 2. The last map of every episode will be kind of a smaller "boss map" with bigger creatures than the rest of the episode. The episode themes are yet to be determined. - Detailed maps like Scythe 2 (or better...). -Fast and exciting gameplay with exceptional flow and heavy difficulty progression like Scythe (1). - No huge slaughterfests outside of the boss maps. The number of episodes is yet to be determined. As soon as an episode is finished and tested it will be released. Thorough testing will assure that a released episode never needs updating after release. Current progress: maps 01-05 are >95% finished. Testing has commenced. I am looking to fill the following positions atm: - Dedicated gameplay tester (demo oriented player). - Graphics guy (title pic, intermission pic). - Music guy(s).     What gamma level do you use?

    I usually use 0-1 for single player/coop and whatever is maximum in the port I use for deathmatch.
  19. I think I can point out which map is made by which author with 100% success.
  20. Played a bit further. map08 is great, good layout though it's paced rather slow. Kristian's ceiling architecture is very very nice though I dont approve of some of his repetetive wall detail that gets in the way. map09 is probably the weakest map so far except map01. map10 is also great, very creative though a bit overly symmetrical. map11 I like very much though the detail is somewhat low and the music a bit enervating. Good classic pwad style. Died on the red key cyber because I humped a pillar at the wrong time.

  23. Played up to map05 where I died after the red door from chaingunners and quit for now. Looks promising.

    What is your most hated demon in Doom?

    Spider mastermind. Ugly, badly balanced and too easy. If the lost souls spawned by PEs had 40-50 health or so instead of 100 I think people would appreciate the pain elemental more.
