id software heading to a galaxy far, far away for next game?
Daytime Waitress replied to Buckshot's topic in Everything Else
The people who were involved in creating something you hold dear no longer work here; and if they are involved, you should probably be even more worried. Funny, I've heard that somewhere before... -
From Software needs to hire you, Jello.

What Video Game Are You Currently Playing?
Daytime Waitress replied to Neurosis's topic in Everything Else
Also enjoying Dusk HD: kind of dipping in for a level or two now and then, rather than a full-playthrough, just to see how it looks all glam'd up. Wasn't expecting to like it so much given how I adore Dusk's original aesthetic, but it's surpassed expectations - goaty goat bois look gorgeous! I'm also kind of enjoying being back in Ready or Not, except not really. The squad AI that made me drop the game for the longest time is still mercurial, at times clearing rooms and mopping up evidence to the point where the game plays itself, at other times standing around with dick in hand while you tank shots to the face. Plus suspect AI feels like it's gone backwards from pre-1.0, with even crackheads able to 360 no-scope you from the other side of a darkened room whilst sprinting. And then there's the whole debacle of gating level selection for all game modes behind a new linear story mode progression, after it was free choice for however many years in Early Access. On top of stripping out mission types entirely. I want to like this game - and I do love it when it goes right - but damn if it doesn't make it difficult. -
I feel like it's more: could the company that removed the original versions from storefronts and slopped out half-arsed remasters monetize such an addition to make it worth their while?

Doom 64 Reloaded for the Doom 64 Remaster (Steam, GOG, Epic Games, Bethesda.net, Game Pass)

HOORAY FOR VOIDBERG! -
I do agree, but that kind stuff was for me just the surface level. At the base of it all was a really insidious wasteland of unnecessary middlemen, where marketing pukes spent large portions of actual game budgets in increasingly desperate attempts to outdo each other in order to impress journalists the absolute lowest tier of marketing pukes. And whilst devs have always had some way to disseminate news/progress, I'm thankful to be living in an age where there's at least the potential for a more direct conduit between them and gamers. Thanks for the memes, I guess, but good fucking riddance.

2023 Missed Cacowards - Any WADs you'd like to share?
Daytime Waitress replied to Roebloz's topic in Doom General
I'd typically frown on mods/admins abusing their privileges, but all I'm saying is that one among you has the opportunity to change his custom title to "Mrs. Slocombe"... -
First map released in 18 years! KGZDoom1.
Daytime Waitress replied to kdoom's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Looks absolutely sumptuous - can't wait to crack on with it. -
Despite the burning ground, this one feels really calming to me. I'd be shocked if no-one had replaced the SMM's fire with Beavis' laughter and it's wake-up with "TP for my bunghole", in 30 whole years. And thanks - will do!

I love Youtube's war on ad-blockers

I've got that weirdness a couple of times, too, even with Ghostery and uBlock Origin on Firefox (never logged into YT on the PC): "You've been a very naughty waitress!" Well are you actually going to prevent me from using the site? "Umm... no." Weigh bloody anchors, I guess. -
New pinky sound pack just dropped.

Although I don't watch him so often these days, Coincident's Going Down and Sunlust playthroughs were instrumental in getting me into the wider Doom world, and thus Doomworld. Informative, amusing, and the rhythmic clicketty-clack of reloading shotties and mechanical keyboards is just plain therapeutic to me. @Doomkid's descriptive stuff is a treasure, but I feel that he shines brightest in the same spots as @sandwedge (back when he still did vids), @Biodegradable and @Clippy: you can watch their playthroughs intently, or leave 'em on in the background and it feels like you have friends that like talking about Doom telling you about this sick new WAD they've just discovered. Cosy af.
