More shooting in the end. You can solve some puzzles or not, those are mostly optional. Gameplay is easygoing. Nothing for Doom-veterans (easy). Ammo can be scarce, just run away (maybe have to add some on some places). Plot: You just want to get to a vacation. Longer plot: Spoiler A dystopian world where ignorant, idiotic, hysteric, stockholm syndromatic people are living in byrocratic, corporatic, totalitarian plutocracy. Some of them werent affected, how? Mindset of the zombies is fear and hate. They drag everyone down who thinks for himself. Every form of thinking outside of the scope is ridiculed with negatively stigmatized words or straightly deleted/banned. Zombies don't know, have or feel history or even the present. They just react to what their instinctively needs are. They've divided us, made us poor and sick. Add more / remove Dialogs/"quests"? Add more / too simple / remove PDA? Useless? Add more stuff to find? Now if you get lost it kinda reminds what to do. And you can find random notes. Some maps still got pretty complex.. pretty and complex (reference, bar scene). Thoughts. Spoiler -I painted myself to the corner with the realistic approach earlier on "Lost civilization 2 intro". So the change now really made everything so much easier. You can sell anything wit a reality twists. It also makes everything so much more interesting as anything can happen. Should've just figured it out a bit faster while had that in lost civ 1 "dream levels". Also didn't try to do so much. Cut down things. Who even likes big and complex levels? Yeah, now some levels are big at size but gameplaywise pretty straightforward. -Nonlinear gameplay is not easy to do. You have constantly think and rethink all the routes and consequenses they represent to the whole. Like map05. It could've been a mess.. Temptation to add more and more. So this is more linear overall. Hate seeing people get lost too much.. -When making "LC1" I had a problem rewarding the player. You break balance so easily with sercets contining ammo, health etc. Now there is always something to pick up when exploring. I kind a liked old games with treasure rooms so now they are back. -When making "LC1" I had a problem with gameplay. At the start there were so little monsters. When playtesting I just added them more and more. Not sure if it was a right decision, tried not to make it still too grindy. Now I could do "only" exploration type better as there are things to to and find. And somewhat got bored with all the violence, hate and war in the world at general.. I can play like 5 maps with monsters and kinda get overwhelmed. -When Doom came I always felt it would be cool to have NPS's there. The world felt so empty. So even a glimpse of another person there would have been nice. So I added NPC's. They are simple but this is not RPG. -Why swinging looking doors that open up. For performance (map03 for ex.). They close bsp-tree, swinging doors won't. Mostly created all of this with low-spec laptop myself. Terrible fps on map02.. -Many ideas here could/should be pushed forward so much. Combat scenarios with "hearts", for example. More destructible walls & floors. More "quests". -There (may be) are items and places with no meaning. They just exist. Too many weapons (you can drop weapons).. I think most games get it wrong when they polish and streamline everything. When everything is "overthought", everything cut which doesn't have a strict purpose, game becames predictable and boring(at least sometimes). Imperfection is interesting. Like in music, there is so many "perfect" songs but I don't care them a bit. More I like a little dissonances, imperfections while ofc sometimes like those songs which seek perfection on their own, huh? It feels like a stream of consciousness, I can't quite put the elements together. What's with the existential horror? Are RPG elements really necessary? Is it an adventure, a horror story, a fever dream? What is the purpose of loads of custom monsters and guns? Is it really a sequel to LostCiv? Lost Civilization 2 is a piece of media that completely left me confused, the ingredients of it mashed together just can't make sense in my head, and that's really impressive.
