What are your personal best DOOM achievements?
rita remton replied to bowserknight's topic in Doom General
mine is a rather small achievement - after all the years playing classic doom, i finally started publicly publish my own doom maps this year :) -
for my brother and i, we publicly published our first maps in the [10 lines genocide community project] - e2m10: blue moonlight (bro's), e3m19: green sarnie (bro's), and e4m45: klutzy kite (mine). we had other moments too, like publishing maps for the [ramp2023 community project] which was aimed at newbie mappers like us - map287: scarlet sky (bro's), map286: tiny tangle (mine). and we also started learning making midis too via the free [signal online midi editor]. so a happy doom year for us, and hopefully for all upcoming years too! :)

what are you working on? I wanna see your wads.
rita remton replied to everennui's topic in WAD Discussion
it's not like that :) it's a wad i'm currently working on for a community project. doom mapping is still quite new to me, so i'm still learning how to make a map like having lighting and shadows, have nice monster placements, etc. in my screenshots, i used a texture placeholder because i'm yet to learn how to combine different textures to nicely decorate a room :) by the way, from the screenshots, your first map looks incredible! congrats for such awesome handiwork :) -
What do you guys use for custom MIDIs?
rita remton replied to SepticDagger88's question in Editing Questions
i use the [signal online midi editor]. no app to install, it's free, have fairly powerful features, and you could upload your own soundfonts (eg: rlndgm.sf2). -

Which nodebuilder is best, for what purposes, and why?
rita remton replied to DoomGappy's question in Editing Questions
depends on the map format. for vanilla doom, if you intend to use lots of self-referencing sectors to make "3d bridges" etc, imo it is good to use [bsp-w32]. from personal experience, if you use the default node builder and you made more than 1 "3d bridge", only the last bridge would work properly while other earlier bridges would become buggy. however, [bsp-w32] does not come without its fair share of drawbacks, like being noticeably a bit slow when building nodes. i guess every node builder has its own pros and cons - i tried searching for a table with such info for easy comparison between the nodes, but to no avail. just my 2 cents, hope it helps and best of luck :) -
