Castleization 2 an MBF 21 map that I forgot to release!
DoomGuy2077 replied to Hebonky's topic in WAD Releases & Development
This map looks really nice. Do you have a link to the first Castleization? -
[RC5] EVITERNITY II - RC5 Released!

Sigil 2 or Eviternity2, I don't know what to play first. -
In which difficulty do you prefer playing Classic Doom?
DoomGuy2077 replied to Admen's topic in Doom General
I always start on UV. If I feel like I'm running up against a wall at any point, I lower it to HMP. After a couple dozen deaths and no clear strategy that I can think of to execute in order to progress, I just want to see the rest of the game. I might even go back to UV after the difficulty spike. It's a single player game. I'm not trying to prove anything. -
The Ultimate Doom and Doom II MIDIs aren't very good and I count it as a mark against a modern WAD or map if they're used. The formula for a Bobby Prince MIDI is plagiarized rock riff arranged into a 12 bar blues chord pattern. Every single time.

what was the firsrt doom game you played
DoomGuy2077 replied to coletomars32's topic in Doom General
My dad let me play the shareware version of KDitD on his IBM when I was 9 years old. He had to launch it for me but I watched everything he did really closely so I could do it myself when he wasn't around. He showed me Doom because he wanted me to see how cool his new computer was but I was only really allowed to play Commander Keen. I had to be sneaky and play Doom behind his back. -
For a long time I struggled to do much damage at all with the BFG. Recently, I've started strafing after the BFG ball starts moving towards the crowd to ensure the tracers hit as many monsters as possible. With archviles I shoot them point blank so the ball and all tracers hit him which is a one hit kill every time. Are there more effective strategies? And how do I get rid of a cyberdemon without shooting 6 BFG shots? I manage to get blown up every time.

I have an old style Razer Kishi that I've played Doom with but it's not very sturdy. The controls wobble on the side of the phone because the back is mainly elastic. I also have a clamp that fits on a standard Xbox one controller with a mount for a smartphone that works better. But honestly I have a lot of trouble playing Doom with sticks. I did it for years and I don't know how I managed.

I like anyone who does live commentary playthroughs rather than just uploading demos. The "Bob Ross" tone e.g. Decino, BMD, is good if you're looking for a level guide. Vytaan's upbeat style makes engaging content for casual watching.

Return to Hadron Episode 4 - Colour me damned (RC3) - Limit removing
DoomGuy2077 replied to cannonball's topic in WAD Releases & Development
I'vee only played the first map and I already love it. the amount of hitscan enemies in your face makes you run into items by pure luck. A moment of panic can can disappear in a second. -

Should you ever use the regular shotgun after getting the super shotgun?
DoomGuy2077 replied to Griffonki's topic in Doom General
The standard shotgun is relevant throughout the whole game. It's my go-to for picking off enemies at long range. Anything up to and including chain gunners. I usually use the chain gun for zombies/gunners at close range. I save the super shotgun for pinkie demons and above. -
The attack token system in Doom Eternal breaks occasionally for no reason at all.
DoomGuy2077 replied to DoomGuy2077's topic in Doom Eternal
It's definitely not the intended behavior. Id Software devs have spoken about the token system at developers conferences. You can use mods to increase the amount of tokens available to monsters and they sometimes behave like the "infinite tokens" mod is installed. -

DoomGuy2077 posted a topic in Doom Eternal
The system that determines which monsters are allowed to attack and when is based on how many tokens are available during combat. A monster cannot perform an atttack without a token and will always wait for another montser to finish and release their token. Lower difficulties have fewer tokens, higher difficulties have more tokens. Once in a while this seems to break down and all monsters persue and attack the player. Does anyone know if there's a predictable pattern that causes it? Are there any possible fixes? -
Not too shabby. The soundtrack has some bangers. How long ago did you make it?

Plotting the correlations between fans of Doom and fans of metal music
DoomGuy2077 replied to Alex S.'s topic in Everything Else
Gotta go with punk and post-rock. Not very Doomy but whatever. I'm an eclectic kind of guy.
