Kwisior Posted October 16, 2023 (edited) I wanted to run some Final Doom maps, but I don't think I'll stay sane without the midipacks. Can I load them with the IWADs without being disqualified? Edited October 16, 2023 by Kwisior 1 Share this post Link to post
Andromeda Posted October 16, 2023 Yeah, it's allowed if the additional wads only add/replace music. 2 Share this post Link to post
GarrettChan Posted October 16, 2023 I thought you asked whether Medipack is allowed, and I was like, how does it work lmao Yeah, midipack is allowed, but anything else is not allowed, even just sound effect changes. 2 Share this post Link to post
ViolentBeetle Posted October 17, 2023 How would anyone know? MIDIs don't affect demos. 1 Share this post Link to post

You can use notepad to open a lmp and scroll to the bottom to see this stuff if you want (thats how i do it anyway) 0 Share this post Link to post
head_cannon Posted October 25, 2023 I appreciate the answers & clarifications in this thread: I had made some PBs for the main 3 episodes of DTWID, and was considering putting them in the archive, but I'd been using a midipack for practice + attempts and only afterwards did I wonder if loading additional WADs besides the levels would be seen as a suspicious practice that would cause administrative headaches. I know that the stakes are so low when posting PBs to make this next question irrelevant in my case, but in general: Should I mention the midipack WAD I used in the text file, just to preemptively explain the anomaly in the metadata in case anyone was concerned? It's a little awkward in this case since it's not one of the "marquee" releases like the TNT or AV soundtrack replacement, but a custom one instead which wouldn't be recognizable - there's only my word that it replaces midis & not sound-effects. 1 Share this post Link to post

Yep, that's good practice. 1 hour ago, head_cannon said: It's a little awkward in this case since it's not one of the "marquee" releases like the TNT or AV soundtrack replacement, but a custom one instead which wouldn't be recognizable - there's only my word that it replaces midis & not sound-effects. As long as the wad is available to download somewhere so that the maintainers can verify its content, it should be fine. You can even place a link to the wad in the text file accompanying your demo(s) to make the process easier. 1 Share this post Link to post
