Besides Batman DOOM TC, seems that zombies' (as well as player's) sprites are taken from Covert Operations (TC for EGDE), and pinky demons are dogs from Wolfenstein 3D.
And yeah, Doom Forever is PSX Final DOOM only. I haven't seen this stuff made for PSX DOOM Custom PlayStation Edition yet...

At least it's russian.

Also, few years ago I did a simple TC for GZDoom which reanimates this hack.

As awful as this may be, this is one of those pieces of history that absolutely needs to be preserved at all costs.

Apologies for the necro bump, but I have a small bit of news related to this. PsyDoom 0.5.0 has just added partial support for this romhack. Since it was mostly just an asset swap it was very quick and easy to do this, so I figured why not... It should be mostly same except for the Russian string changes made to the binary, which were not carried over. I don't plan on extending support or doing any more work on this, but if you want to experience this historical oddity firsthand with uncapped FPS and modern keyboard + mouse controls then now you can do that:

An obvious problem with changed alphabet. The original hack does use normal russian words here, of course.

Yep I don't include the string changes made to the binary, so the menus are in a very funky form of English. Other than that though it should be mostly the same.

UPD: "Ш" in "Шame" you could read as "SH", so... SHAME MODE.

Also a few sprites appears to be based on the Quake 1 models of the enemies poorly converted over into sprites. The EDGE PWAD QDOOM was actually released in 2001, a year after this awful bootleg PS1 game was released.

This crappy PS1 DOOM bootleg makes the "Chinese Bootleg" Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith DVD (The one that rendered Darth Vader's infamous NOOOO! scene in the film as "Do Not Want" in the subtitles) look like a masterpiece in comparison.

Well, that's a part of the russian oldschool gaming culture. Doom Forever is the meme. And like the other memes existing in this world, some people definitely like it.

I think the appeal of it is the difficulty.  Also, there's probably a load of Russian cultural references in there the rest of us aren't understanding.  It's good that it's now possible to play it natively on a PC.

Of course you can. You just need to trick the system into being able to read modified discs, and that's relatively easy to do in the PS1's case.

In my country it was the norm, even official places like wal mart sold the modified ps1 that readed images copy burnt on cds.
One day i asked why, and they said me that the importing company just sold them the modified consoles.

So yeah, an original game for PSX here was a really big thing and almost nobody had one.
So hacked games was also something easy to find, too.

I remember playiing Doom Forever and just thinking ''well, its just Doom but with another coat'', as i didn't knew it was a hack. back then i prefered to play Doom on PC than on PSX. I never get used to the controls.

The PS2 was a bit trickier it seems, as there was official shops that sold unmodified consoles, but everyone just modified it to read copies.
The drawback was that the console life spam was greatly reduced, from 5 to 8 years, to 2 to 5 years only.

My PSX was, and still is, my last bought console. I had to change the reader lens like 15 years ago as it did't loaded anything, not even music cds, but after that it worked like new.

Doomguy in this shoddy hack's version of I'm Too Young to Die is gonna be like: "Where did everybody go? Bingle?"

Is it weird that I kinda want to play it? Just to see how bad is it of course. I've always had an interest in bootlegs like these.

Can someone PLEASE tell me where I can get this. I'll even settle for a bootleg of the bootleg at this point.

These Russian bootleggers actually minused 50% of the game's budget out.
