Saw "Purple Rain." Strange movie, but pretty good music throughout with some well done dramatic moments. Felt rather self-wanking at times, but then again I suppose Prince wasn't the one writing or directing.

The fashion-sense throughout was pleasing to the eye.

Saw the new Ghostbusters at the weekend. It was a good film.

I watched Zizek! the other night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Of course, just watching Zizek talk is amusing in and of itself :-P

A bit earlier than that, my wife and I marathoned the Heisei and Millennium era Gamera movies.

Iron Giant. Probably my top favorite animated movie of all time. That movie never gets old, no matter how many times i see it.

I've just watched that recently myself. One of my all-time favorites. The other night I watched The Land Before Time with my son, and he watched the entire movie with me, utterly mesmerized. Pretty rare for such a young, energetic child to sit still for that long.

Just watched Sausage Party a couple weeks ago. It is as funny as it is about relentlessly showering you with sexual innuendo.

I've only watched like 66 movies in my entire life, only 2 of them by myself rather than being forced by my family or to pass time during rainy days in school (since usually no more than 2 people per classroom assisted during rainy days, apply that to a small school with only the last 4 grades and 2 classrooms per grade).

The last movie i watched by myself was Outpost, i enjoyed it.

The last movie i watched at school was some asian modern horror movie about people moving into a haunted house and some shit, i forgot the name and it genuinely bored me.

Holy Hell on the Netflix and now I'm ready to start a cult. I mean an anti-cult. Could you carry this chair for me everywhere I go? It just happens to be gold and twice as wide as a normal chair. Remember that without me you could never get in touch with god or achieve lasting happiness. In fact, you'd probably die.

Just finished watching The Lost Boys, such a great film.

After only seeing the Star Trek movies based on TNG and Beyond I decided to try and watch one of the TOS based movies for the first time and picked Wraith of Khan.

It was pretty much an enjoyable Star Trek film and didn't at all feel very dated, and considering my experience with Star Trek films so far I definitly enjoyed it much more than Nemesis, Insurrection and Beyond, and it is certainly up there with Generations and First Contact.

I rewatched I Am Legend yesterday, to confirm that I was not losing my mind. Turns out there are two endings for that movie.

Fun as a horror movie, but was obviously made for hipsters metalheads.

I was thinking about watching that film until I looked up the soundtrack. One random obscure legend and a bunch of mediocre shit.

Don't Breathe, it's a rather tense thriller from director Fede Alvarez, who prior to this directed the Evil Dead remake. Don't Breath is a very different film from Evil Dead, where Evil Dead primarily relied on shock and gore to scare the viewer, Don't Breath relies on suspense and an spooky setting. Stephen Lang is fantastic as the films villain, his blindness makes for some very interesting scenes, a highlight for me was when the intruders are down in the basement & he switches off the lights to give himself an advantage. This is certainly one of the more interesting films of the year, I highly recommend it.

Force Awakens for a second time, first was in the theater. On closer inspection, it appears that Abrams took more from Lucas' toy and cartoon-focused approach to the series than I first realized. Also, a lot of the scenes with the older characters are pretty stilted.

My favorite movie of all time alongside Alien. I think I'm due for a rewatch.

Saw Ant-Man yesterday. I must say, that was reallyfun to watch, out of all the superhero movies I saw.

Cool costumes. Funny protagonist (not Deadpool funny). Cool plot. Funny bits (Thomas the train engine!). I have never enjoyed watching a movie like this one since Real Steel.

Saw Hell or High Water last night. It was alright; my buddy liked it more than I did. No where near the category of No Country For Old Men, the gold standard (from RT, about No Country: "One of the most thoughtful and startling snapshots of the human condition of the last ten years." I don't get why Hell or High Water is 98% on RT. I dunno, I found there to be too little emotional resonance, and the pay off for the slow burn setup, though good, was a little underwhelming. I like movies that have a slow setup, but there just was a little too little in this film. It also doesn't look nearly as good as No Country. The camera work was too ho-hum. Maybe the 98% rating put my expectations too high, but I don't think that's the issue here.

I watch a lot of movies old and new and I don't usually check in with this thread (kinda reduced my posting habits here for a while, was getting too angry with the meat robots.) But this past week I watched Planet of the Vampires, a 1965 sci-fi joint about astronauts (in very 60s sci-fi outfits that came off as a little Jack Kirby-esque) who land on a mysterious planet to find it inhabited by invisible beings that seek to possess visitors to escape a dying sun. The script and acting were a little wooden, but it was a gorgeous movie for '65 with excellent uses of color and some lovely set design, plus some really good suspense.

Also watched Captain America 3 -- great film if you like MCU, though it relies a little too heavily on previous movies that aren't Captain America films (namely, the Avengers movies) so it doesn't stand alone nearly as well as the first two Cap films. It's definitely cemented Cap as my favorite MCU character, though -- and I guess I didn't hate Spiderman as much as I thought I would.

Just saw "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" last night; one of the funniest movies I've seen in years. Would totally recommend to any fans of the older style of comedy.

The new Blair Witch movie. Run-of-the-mill crappy reboot. Only fun I had watching it was critiquing it
