About Me
Last update: Dec 25, 2023
My name is Dmytro Moskovchenko, I am 25, live in Ukraine, a full-time Java Developer and my hobby is making Tool-Assisted Speedruns (TASes).
My opinion on Doom TASing tendencies:
Doom TASing is dying slowly. It's not appreciated as highly as 10 years ago unless you are someone popular, like ClumsyDoomer, or Vita, or Zero-Master and people wait for your art.
The number of Doom TASers is barely growing, but we don't have more high-quality UV-Speed/Max TAS movies that people would like to see. I think people are just not interested in such kind of entertainment. Where did all the audience go? The pool of Doom TASes is much smaller than video game consoles TASes, so people should be looking forward to seeing another new Doom TAS movie since they are rare. Well, it doesn't happen and it won't happen =(
I'm aware of it since 2014 when I made my first handful of high-quality TASes of Sega Genesis games. Then I decided not to do all my best and not to wait for many views, comments and likes. Instead, I started focusing on myself and making TAS movies that I would like to watch, and rewatch again! To tell you the truth, the best audience endorsement I ever got is for my GameCube and Wii TASes. The problems feature difficult TAS making process and some games are desync-prone. So, I moved it aside and soon changed my priorities to Doom TASing. As expected, not many people appreciate your effort and there's no need to spend a piece of your life to build some TAS movies frame-by-frame unless you want to set a record and be proud of it.
I'm not waiting for much appreciation. There is no worse feeling for a content maker than putting some heart into the content and seeing people not paying attention to it. That's why I picked a selfish philosophy in terms of making content. Sharing it on doomworld and tasvideos is more like an old habit because I still hope for my audience like every content maker does. Otherwise, I'm an open person and I don't hesitate about speaking my mind.
I hate real-time speedrunning (in any game). Regardless of how superskilled you are, regardless of how many years you have spent on masterizing a game, you will face countless situations when a sequence of mistakes or bad luck ruins all your progress and you should start everything from the beginning to get mislucked once again! Discover TASing and you will solve all the problems much easier. If you don't rip yourself apart to get the fastest time possible, than a good-looking TAS in slow motion will take even less time than a regular speedrun.
