About This File

A 32 level megawad for doom2. This megawad doesn't have perfect texture alignment, insane detail and fantasticly hard gameplay. Instead it focuses on small fun maps to blast through without much thought about defense. The difficulty rises steadily as you go through the maps and the last few should challenge even the best.

The levels are cramped but surprisingly fun! And the intermission music makes me feel happy inside..

The author of this megawad has understood what DooM is about. This is by far the best and most enjoyable megawad my doom marine has experienced. The architecture and interconnectedness of the levels are so well designed that player rarely gets confused where to go next. One of the nicest features of Scythe was the consistent style throughout the whole megawad. Also worth mentioning are the beautiful details and Alm's eye for texture combinations - a skill many mappers lack. Scythe deserves at least 7 stars

its what 2009 now? and yet i still love classic doom! and quake 1 as for Scythe the wad is super cool! i don't know what i would do without the doom wad station or any doom/quake wader respect to all of ya! for making my doom & quake games just endlessly fun with so many level designs! i mean hell those games are just legendary fuck those shitty shooters that get hyped up then fail! doom/quake is da shit!

Good wad. I love difficult wads, but IMO (in my opinion) you should place less cyberdemons in the last level. But overall it is nice.

I hate to be so definitive, but as it stands, I've yet to play a WAD as fun as Scythe. My favorite of all-time for many reasons: varied gameplay that's always entertaining, strong layouts, classic feel... it just kicks ass. This is also the wad that inspired me to start making maps, so uh... props for that, too. 5/5 -Snakes

The only thing that sucks about this wad is that it has too few levels. Other than that, this wad ties with AV and HR!

2fort on it's original incarnation.   Pretty great.

The first ever version of 2fort. It barely resembles its later incarnations.   Crazy how an entire franchise and FPS genre spawned from a single map. It's a crime that the origins of Team Fortress have been forgotten. Most people don't know anything before Quake/TF1 2fort, but nope, this is yet another massively influential thing that the Doom community can claim.

Great fun. Bleak, metal-driven style over fairly easy substance, which is a good thing. I can see the song getting annoying in a more challenging map.

Pretty fun map if you want some quick, easy slaughter fun. Just sucks a bit that you can just cheese the whole thing by leaving the arena and running around at the edges of the map. Cool to play with gameplay mods tho!   Music is alright but it does get a little annoying after a while.

Classic, sober, simple tech map that I'm fond of. The flow of the map is like a river, and the backtrack (that myself is usually upset about) is intuitive to follow. The teleport repopulation is smart enough. I don't know about the health/ammo tightness other comments talked about because I played with a mod.
